What I Eat is my Business
From the Baltimore Sun:
Doctors group says no junk food for the Obamas
Wants first family not to be photographed eating unhealthy foods

First Lady Michelle Obama is on a mission to get our kids to eat healthy, but every now and then she is known to indulge on a cheeseburger or other food that is not so good for the body.
A few years ago she made a lunch run with staff to a Five Guys inWashington, D.C.
Well, a physicians group said this is a no-no and wants Michelle Obama and the rest of the first family not to be photographed eating unhealthy foods. The Physicans Committee for Responsible Medicine said that President Obama has posed in a number of staged photos eating unhealthy foods, including hot dogs at a basketball game with British Prime Minister David Cameron. He and Vice President Joe Biden were spotted making a stop at Ray’s Hell Burgerin Virginia and eating cheeseburgers with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.
The group said Obama’s staff would never schedule a photo opp of the president smoking a cigarette, so why eating a piece of pizza?
The group plans to file a petition later this week asking the White House to issue an executive order banning staged photos of the president, his family the vice president and members of the president’s cabinet eating unhealthy foods
My Response: What we eat is a personal choice. Kudos to the First Lady for her personal choices, but no one has the right to dictate what I eat. I’m growing weary of those in DC telling me and my family what to eat. It’s none of their business.
Last night, in revolt, I went thru the drive-thru BEFORE dinner and ordered a large ice cream cone, diet coke, followed by jelly bellies and peppermint m&ms…
I got it out of my system and now I’m back on MY healthy diet — followed by a very hard run this am…..
GITMO needs pork ribs served in the courtroom by female soldiers in bikinis.
From the Chicago Tribune:
Now Bormann is defending Walid bin Attash, one of five top al-Qaidaoperatives on trial in Guantanamo Bay for allegedly conspiring in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The five men, who have come to be known collectively as the Gitmo 5, were arraigned there Saturday. It was then that Bormann gained national notice, and a measure of criticism, for appearing in court in traditional Muslim clothing that left only her face showing and for asking one woman on the government team to consider dressing more modestly so her client could focus on the proceedings.Bormann would not discuss reports of threats against her.For her, the issue is a simple one of respecting the religious and cultural beliefs of a client. She said that since she was appointed to bin Attash’s case last year, she has always dressed conservatively out of deference to a client who believes he will violate a religious tenet if he looks at a woman who is immodestly dressed.
“My client has never seen my hair, has never seen my arms, has never seen my legs,” Bormann said in an interview Monday. “All of the defense counsel, all of the guards and everybody who works in Guantanamo Bay camp has seen me dressed like this. … I never thought in my wildest dreams that this would become an issue.”
And my response to the attorney in GITMO defending the 9/11 terrorists who requested all females in the room wear traditional Muslim attire:
No thanks. Let’s instead have pork ribs served in the courtroom by female soldiers in bikinis. Respect for those who killed our family members BECAUSE of their religion? Pulllleeese!
